PIERRE ANDREY

The Moselle magician is back

We are therefore very proud today to present the great wines of Florence and Pierre. It was love at first sight when we came across their nectars for the first time in 2018, and we've been looking forward to introducing them to you again;

Based in Moselle, they use a unique method to produce authentic terroir wines aged in Dame-Jeanne. The result is wines of incredible precision, energetic, sharp, deep and complex. From bewitching Pinots Noirs to vertiginously vertical Gamays and Chardonnays, these unique wines fully justified our departure from our Burgundian playground.

Today, we present 3 cuvées of 2020 whites that have benefited from a long ageing and waiting period in bottle. You'll find 2 Chardonnay d'altitude with rare complexity from marl and limestone terroirs, and a Pinot Gris on sandstone that's simply marvellous.

In red, we present 4 Pinot Noir and 1 Gamay. Séries 17 (Schistes) and Séries 20 (Gex) are two of the estate's great cuvées with which wine-lovers are already very familiar. The little novelty we're particularly keen on this year is the “Projet F.H.” series. This series was the last great project of our late Frédéric. As with last year's IDV series, he worked with Pierre Andrey to find the vineyards and terroirs in Burgundy capable of producing exceptional wines.

Here, then, is the result of this magnificent collaboration: 2 cuvées named “projet F.H.” for Frédéric Henry. 2 cuvées from the same Jurassic limestone and marl terroir, but from 2 different plots, one of which is an old vine (dj 252 and 253) offering even greater density and depth. In all cases, these 2 cuvées have benefited from exemplary vinification (100% whole harvest, 3-month maceration), giving them unlimited potential. The attack is full-bodied, almost savage at present, and then the acidity propels the wine upwards. The beautiful bitters are the final convincing touch, inevitably leading us to sit down at the table. Mind you, Pierre recommends waiting until at least 2026 to start tasting these wines!

Please note that this year, we are presenting exclusively wines from Pierre Andrey's “Verba Pampinea” range, i.e. wines produced from free-run juice using a small press. These are Pierre's “top-of-the-range” wines. Last but not least, for wine-lovers, a few rare bottles of a magnificent 45° marc!

As quantities are minimal, each wine is limited to 1 or 2 bottles per cuvée and 6 at most. Thank you for your understanding.
