Chenu Louis & filles

Chenu Louis & filles

It is with undisguised pleasure that we present the new vintage (2022 and 2023, depending on the cuvées and aging times) from the Chenu estate. We were very proud to introduce it to you three years ago, and many of you thanked us for this wonderful discovery. Although it has clearly flown under the radar of many specialists, the Louis Chenu Père & Filles estate is undoubtedly one of the finest expressions of Savigny-les-Beaune.

For five generations, the Chenu family has worked this land with strength and tenacity. In recent years, Louis' daughters, Juliette and Caroline, have really taken matters into their own hands and have made significant changes to practices, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Vinification is carried out in the pure Burgundian tradition: the grapes are destemmed, crushed, cold macerated for a few days and then punched down daily. Fermentation is natural, and vinification temperatures are not high. After vatting for about two weeks, the wines are placed in the cellar and aged for a minimum of 18 months.

This produces wines with a powerful but elegant bouquet, marked by a dominant fruitiness, evolving towards more complex aromas after a few years. Supple and discreetly tannic, these Pinots are delicate, with a profile that could be described as feminine. In short, a sure bet that is likely to appear on a few radars in the near future...
