Jérémy Recchione: Micro Estate but great emotions

It is always with a certain excitement that we present a new domain, especially when the latter has particularly seduced us. Jérémy Recchione has been in love with wine for 10 years now.

We are delighted to announce the arrival of Jeremy Recchione's new 2024 vintage. This is a moment we have been eagerly awaiting, as this estate is very close to our hearts. 2024 was clearly not an easy year in Burgundy, but Jeremy once again demonstrated impressive precision and determination to achieve the best results, despite sometimes extreme conditions.

The vintage was marked by exceptional rainfall, episodes of frost and even hail, with constant pressure from mildew from spring until harvest. Yields were severely affected, with losses estimated at between 5 and 10 hectoliters per hectare, and one iconic plot, the Chardonnay "Terreau Thomas" in Vosne-Romanée, simply could not be harvested. Difficult choices, but always made in the name of quality.

The harvest, later than in previous years, took place between September 14 and 24, with extremely rigorous sorting, both in the vineyard and in the winery. The work remained faithful to the estate's principles: early morning harvesting in small crates, transfer to cold storage, and for the reds, cold pre-fermentation maceration to preserve freshness and fruitiness.

Ultimately, 2024 has produced fruity, taut wines with great freshness, in a spirit reminiscent of the 2021 vintage. These are expressive, precise juices that perfectly reflect their terroirs despite a challenging year. There is a great deal of finesse, integrity, and the vibrant energy that characterizes Jeremy's wines.

This vintage also marks an important turning point for the estate. Jeremy acquired his own winery in Marey-lès-Fussey, the estate expanded, the project took shape, and Julie became a full partner in the venture. A new visual identity accompanied this movement, one that was more refined and more in line with the estate's natural approach and values.

In terms of cuvées, we find the estate's great classics (Cerisiers, Savigny Lavières, Pouilly Fuissé, etc.) but also some new additions (notably a delicious Saint Véran). These are rare, profound wines, steeped in history, which give even more depth to this difficult year.

In short, this is a vintage of resilience, strong choices, and sincerity. Small volumes, but lots of soul. We are really very happy to be able to offer you these new vintages this morning.

As always, quantities are minimal, so limitations are inevitable.

  • Derthona Timorasso 2023

    Recchione Jérémy
    €32.00

Derthona comes from the Roman name given to Tortone, a town south of Milan. It's a white wine made from the Timorrasso grape variety. From the Piedmont region, Derthona is the DOC neighbor of Barolo with its emblematic Nebbiolo grape. The terroir is clay-limestone on the Derthona hills. This grape variety almost disappeared in the 1960s, in favor of the Cortese variety that produces the wines of the Gavi appellation. Yet it's a grape variety that now wants to compete with its world-famous nebbiolo neighbor. Timorrasso is even considered the future white Barolo.

  • Saint-Véran 2024

    Recchione Jérémy
    €39.00

A plot located 300 meters away, benefiting from a privileged southwestern exposure. With exceptional vines over 40 years old, this Saint-Véran draws its complexity from deep clay-limestone soil. The maturity of the vines brings increased concentration and aromatic expression, while the limestone terroir is the signature of its elegant minerality and refined structure. On the palate, it offers a lively and elegant attack, supported by a chalky minerality characteristic of Saint-Véran. Its persistent finish and beautiful tension make it a wine that can be enjoyed young for its liveliness, but also develop more complex notes of honey and dried fruit after a few years of aging.

This Pinot Noir comes from old vines that are around 50 years old, carefully cultivated on a historic plot called "Les Combes." This terroir enjoys a privileged location at an ideal altitude and southeast exposure on deep clay-limestone soils dotted with fine marl. This composition gives the grapes exceptional aromatic complexity and optimal ripeness, a direct legacy of the immediate proximity to the rich soils of the famous Clos Vougeot, with which it shares certain characteristics.
