Youth and determination

We don't hold back our pleasure! We never do. Under any circumstances. We're enchanted by every new thing. Like a child opening his packages on Christmas morning. Like a bee on its first flower. Like a... Okay, that's going a bit far, but still... We're delighted to welcome Raphaëlle Guyot's new 2023 vintage !

Trained by Thibault Liger Belair, Cyril Fhal and Vincent Pinard, Raphaëlle Guyot is passionate about vines and wine, and today owns 1.5 hectares in production in the "Vin de Pays de l'Yonne" appellation. She has opted for a high trellised vine to adapt to climate change and naturally reinforce the plant's defenses. Organic treatments, agroforestry, respect for living organisms and listening to her ecosystem are all part of her daily routine and balance.

On the winemaking front, it's no surprise that we're dealing with lively wines, gently accompanied, without forced extraction or excessive crushing. No chemicals are used, apart from an ounce of sulfur sometimes added at bottling if the wine proves fickle when young.

The 2024 vintage will remain etched in our memories. Extremely early bud break around March 25, frost at the end of April, incessant rain, historic mildew pressure... Despite an unprecedented number of treatments, nearly 90% of the harvest was lost. A tough year. A really tough one. Faced with these micro-volumes, Raphaëlle Guyot made a bold decision: to blend Les Hâtes and Les Robinettes to create a single "unique cuvée." A pragmatic choice, but also a logical one, to preserve the essentials.

On the trading side, the situation was the same: her long-standing partner, the Verret estate in Saint-Bris, had also lost almost everything. So, in June, Raphaëlle set out to find new winegrowers. And she found them. Some beautiful terroirs, mainly in Mâconnais and Beaujolais, with a little gem from Touraine (La Grange Tiphaine), producing Chenin and Cabernet Franc.

The result is that 2024 produces wines with fresh, crisp fruit and supple, delicate tannins. These are luminous, energetic cuvées, born out of adversity. A vintage of resilience. And, as is often the case in these complicated years, the wines are sincere, precise, and vibrant.

As quantities are very limited, we limit purchases to between 1 and 3 bottles per cuvée and per customer, to enable as many people as possible to enjoy them.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
