Arlaud Cyprien
The art of patience, with added talent
It was in 2012 that Cyprien Arlaud decided to launch his trading activity in addition to his work on the estate's plots. It is his "passion for Burgundy climates, exceptional in their diversity" that led him to develop new wines, he likes to explain.
"I grow the vines for the majority of these appellations so that I can control their quality perfectly. Then, harvesting, vinification and ageing are carried out with the same exacting standards as at the estate," he explains.
Indeed, for most of the wines, the domaine's team carries out all the tasks in the vineyard, from pruning to harvesting. As with the estate's cuvées, biodynamic principles are applied. The various plots are in the process of obtaining organic certification. Cyprien and his team then apply the same rigorous approach to vinification and ageing.
Maturing at Cyprien Arlaud is precise and respectful: 14 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 15 to 25% of which are new, depending on the cuvée. No filtration or fining, bottling by gravity, following the lunar cycles. Oxygenation is slow and controlled, favoring mellow tannins and great finesse. Sulfur is used sparingly, only when necessary. Wood remains discreet, always at the service of balance, for elegant, vibrant wines capable of ageing gracefully.
As you can see, this is an haute-couture négoce, and the resulting wines really seduced us. They are delicate, intense and perfectly reflect the different terroirs from which they come. These are truly elegant wines that shine with energy and precision. Once again, Cyprien Arlaud does not disappoint, confirming his incredible talent.
Vintage 2022
Cyprien Arlaud's 2022 vintage stands out for its remarkable balance between generous fruit and natural freshness. The season, sunny but not excessively so, produced perfectly ripe grapes with thick skins and concentrated juices. On tasting, the wines present dazzling aromas of black cherry, fresh raspberry and violet, supported by a finely spiced, mineral framework. The palate is full and velvety, with silky tannins and good tension. Accessible young, this vintage also offers promising ageing potential, with balances worthy of the greatest recent years.
We present 10 cuvées in 2022. They offer a complete panorama of Burgundy terroirs, combining elegance and freshness. Here are 5 that particularly seduced us:
- Bourgogne Rouge "Oka" 2022: a greedy, fruity wine, ideal for drinking young, with notes of cherry and red berries.
- Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits 2022: fresher and more mineral, with good tension and subtle aromas of red fruits and spices.
- Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon 2022: rich and structured, it combines power and finesse, marked by silky tannins and good depth.
- Vosne-Romanée "Aux Réas" 2022: elegant and refined, this wine stands out for its floral aromas and velvety texture, with superb balance.
- Nuits-Saint-Georges 2022: expressive and full-bodied, revealing intense fruit supported by fine minerality and well-integrated tannins.

Bourgogne rouge "Oka" 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€28.00Oka is the name of the first horse to plow the Arlaud estate, a magnificent Auxois who bravely, patiently, and tenaciously works the estate’s finest vineyards, though he began his career in the regional appellations. This cuvée is a tribute to his hard work and nobility. This wine is made partly from grapes grown on the estate’s Burgundy plots and a selection of grapes from other plots.

Marsannay Blanc 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€35.00As the only Village appellation that can be produced in all three red wine categories, its character is typical of the wines of the Côte de Nuits, with a style similar to that of neighboring appellations such as Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. While the presence of vineyards has been documented since the 7th century—as is the case throughout the Côte—the prestige of this vineyard has been recognized for a very long time. The Abbey of Bèze, the Bishopric of Autun, the Dukes of Burgundy, and many others owned vineyards in this village.
-
Morey Saint Denis Clos Solon 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€59.00The Morey-Saint-Denis appellation is one of the smallest in the Côte de Nuits in terms of area, covering a total of about 100 hectares. It is nonetheless rich in climats, with 20 Premiers Crus and 5 Grands Crus. Clos Solon is a vineyard plot with several distinct geological formations, making it particularly interesting to vinify separately from other cuvées.
-
Nuits Saint Georges 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€59.00Cyprien Arlaud’s Nuits-Saint-Georges is made from grapes grown in several specific vineyard sites, all located north of the town: “Chouillet,” “Charmottes,” and “Argillats.” The grapes are hand-harvested. The harvest is sorted by hand on a sorting table. The grapes are transferred to the vats by gravity. Fermentation takes place in open vats. Spontaneous fermentation is carried out by the yeasts naturally present on the berries. Long pressing, indigenous yeasts. Vinification lasts between 20 and 25 days.
-
Vosne Romanée 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€97.00This wine is a blend from several vineyards: "Le Pavé," "Aux Communes," and "Au-dessus de la Rivière." Almost heavenly, the Vosne-Romanée appellation—established in 1936—and its crus offer the most sublime expressions of Pinot Noir. Nicknamed "the jewel of the Côte de Nuits," this appellation combines precision and finesse.
-
Vosne Romanée "Aux Réas" 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€102.00This vineyard is located right next to the 1er cru of the same name, south of the village. This Climat deserves to be vinified separately.
-
Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Chaignots 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€118.00This wine comes from a single vineyard north of the town of Nuits-Saint-Georges called “Les Chaignots.”
The name of this cuvée pays tribute to the estate’s founder, Joseph Arlaud, who acquired the historic 14th-century cellar in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Vosne Romanée 1er Cru "Les Petits Monts" 2023
Arlaud Cyprien€225.00“Les Petits Monts” is a vineyard located in the highest part of Vosne-Romanée, next to “Clos Parentoux” and the Richebourg Grand Cru vineyards. The soil is loose and is worked by horse and by hand.
