Les Flâneurs - Nina et Laurence
Some wineries make a quiet entrance, almost on tiptoe… and then there are those that, from the very first bottles, make their mark. Les Flâneurs clearly fall into the second category.
Behind this name are Laurence Cuthbertson and Nina Kunz, an Anglo-Swiss duo based in the hills above Beaune. He is from Wales, she is from Switzerland, and both built their careers working at various wineries before settling in Burgundy.
They met while working on the harvest and in the vineyards, particularly after gaining experience in France and abroad (the Loire, Georgia, New Zealand…), before settling permanently in the region.
Before launching their own project, they honed their skills at estates committed to natural practices, such as Dandelion, and within the Vin Noé network.
Les Flâneurs officially launched with the 2020 vintage as an artisanal wine merchant, driven by a simple idea: to select grapes from organically farmed plots and then vinify them themselves according to their own sensibilities.
In terms of style, the direction was clear from the very first vintages: wines produced in very small quantities, a hands-off approach, and a focus on freshness, balance, and drinkability.
Their production is still quite limited, and we’ve had to wait a while before we could introduce their wines to you. We’re thrilled to finally give you the chance to taste these vibrant, elegant, and very approachable wines, which prioritize energy and fruit over structure or showiness.
Two vintages, one white and one red: a 2023 Aligoté and a 2024 Pinot Noir.
The Aligoté is one of the first vintages produced by the duo, made with grapes from the Mâconnais region. It remains true to the estate’s overall approach: simple winemaking, without artifice, to allow the grape variety’s natural freshness to express itself fully.
The result is a taut, straightforward wine, driven by beautiful energy. A profile clearly focused on liveliness and drinkability, with that sense of precision that characterizes the project’s wines. An Aligoté in tune with the times, prioritizing balance over showmanship.
The red Burgundy is a superb Pinot Noir from the Rully region. In terms of winemaking: whole clusters, short maceration, aging in Burgundy barrels. Everything is designed to preserve the fruit and avoid any excessive extraction. In the glass, it’s a light, fluid Pinot with very expressive fruit, carried by a lovely freshness.
Les Flâneurs embodies exactly what’s most exciting about Burgundy today: atypical profiles, open-minded approaches, and a free-spirited yet serious take on wine.
