Keltchewsky Gabriel
At the crossroads of the natural and the sensitive, Gabriel Keltchewsky's first vintage shows great promise.
Based in Comblanchien, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits region, Gabriel Keltchewsky is part of a new generation of winemakers who are shaking up codes with finesse. After working as a cellarman in Paris and Lyon before switching to production, he discovered wine at the age of 25 and went on to gain experience in Chile, Italy, the Drôme region and Burgundy, where he completed a BTS in wine and oenology and trained with Antoine Lienhardt.
In 2023, Gabriel Keltchewsky signed his first vintage, with two micro-parcels taken over on lease: an old aligoté from the "Les Chenevières" climat and a pinot noir from "Vignes Blanches". These old vines are worked organically, vinified with no added inputs or sulfur, and aged naturally in amphora or neutral barrels, depending on the cuvée.
Production is tiny and confidential. But already, these wines stand out for their precision, freshness and purity. The white offers an Aligoté of great tension, straightforward, mineral and vibrant. The reds, made from whole bunches, are infused with juicy Pinot Noir, full of energy and depth.
Tasting these cuvées is a rare experience: that of witnessing the birth of a talented winemaker, at the very beginning of what promises to be an exciting journey. If you're looking for a natural Burgundy wine, with no added sulfur, made by hand in the Côte de Nuits, you've come to the right place.
Vignes Blanches 2023: A 70-year-old plot of Pinots located in the heart of Comblanchien. The vines are hand-grown by Gabriel Keltchewsky. The grapes are delicately vinified in whole bunches and the wine is aged in barrel for one year. No inputs, no sulfur. The wine is infused, juicy, bursting with fruit, with a light but intense structure. A lively, expressive, silky-grained red that makes you want to come back for more. Very low yield.
Les Chenevières 2023: A 70-year-old plot of Aligotés hidden in a garden in Comblanchien. The vines are hand-grown. Vinified with no added inputs or sulfur, and gently aged in barrel on lees, this white stands out for its clean tension, chalky minerality and beautiful energy. A straightforward, precise Aligoté that combines freshness and depth. Ultra-limited production.
