Maison Skyaasen: New vintages, new slaps!

Almost 4 years ago now, we presented the first vintage from a small house in Meursault. Joachim and Olivia from Skyaasen had delighted us with their magnificent Savigny-lès-Beaune "Les Bas Liards" 2018. Having settled in Burgundy in 2017, they made their first vintage in the old cuverie and vaulted cellars of their home. On the strength of this highly successful first vintage, they had produced three new cuvées in 2019. In 2022, we present 5 cuvées!

Joachim grew up in Norway and Olivia in San Francisco. They met in California during their university studies. Joachim initially worked in finance, while Olivia turned to humanitarian work, which remains her main activity today.

This confidential micro-production is a pure marvel. Today, all the wines are vinified without sulfur. Savigny 2022 is as silky and crisp as ever, Monthélie "Les Sous Courts" will delight lovers of delicate Pinots, as will Monthélie with its superb fullness. As for Pommard, it's still more oriented towards finesse and elegance than the rusticity that sometimes tends to characterize this terroir.

All these splendid Pinot Noir wines are vinified from whole harvests, in the simplest way possible, and then matured in old barrels to avoid any wood marking. In the white category, Skyaasen presents us with two very fine Chardonnays: a Bourgogne Côte d'Or and a Pernand-Vergelesses, two beautiful, complex and easily digestible whites which complete a highly coherent range.
