Domaine des Rouges Queues

Jean-Yves and Isabelle Vantey are among the rising stars of the new Burgundy.

The Domaine des Rouges Queues is located in Burgundy, in the small village of Sampigny les Maranges. In the heart of the southernmost of the Côte de Beaune appellations, it was created in 1998.

At that time, it was made up of a single hectare of red Maranges. Over the years, it has been enriched by several other appellations and today has 5 hectares 46. Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey's objective is to let the Maranges terroir express itself through their wines. For this, they practice organic and biodynamic cultivation, a gentle vinification that respects the work done in the vines.

The harvest is manual, the sorting is done in the vineyard in order to select the best grapes. In the winery, the harvest is partially destemmed for the reds. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats with exclusively indigenous yeasts. Depending on the year, some pumping over and pigeage are carried out. After 12 to 14 days of maceration, comes the time of devatting, then the wines are aged in oak barrels. The aging period is around 12 months for the reds.

The Domaine des Rouges Queues is now participating in the rebirth of the beautiful terroirs of the south of the Côte de Beaune. Jean-Yves and Isabelle Vantey are among the rising stars of the new Burgundy. These young winegrowers, in biodynamics since 2008, have perfectly succeeded in their 2020 vintage which is characterized by wines with a dazzling fruitiness. Note that their wines have a simply exceptional value for money.
