Philippe Pacalet is one of the great names of the "new generation Burgundy". His bio is full of references that reek not only of tradition, but also of reflection and good farming sense.
The man was born into wine. He was introduced to the trade by his uncle Marcel Lapierre, a Beaujolais legend if ever there was one. It was then at one of the finest houses in the region that he came to appreciate the weight and value of the great Burgundy tradition: the Domaine Pieuré-Roch of the late Henri-Frédéric Roch. Since 2001, as the sole head of his own domaine, he has been making the juices sing, and continues to work as he always has: without sulfur and with whole grapes.
All his wines are of great complexity and incredible finesse. But you have to know how to wait for them. Yes, complexity often rhymes with patience. Fortunately, this week we offer you a shortcut to discover Philippe's great wines without having to store your bottles for a decade.
We offer no less than 46 wines, from the Côte de Beaune (Meursault, Saint Aubin, Pommard) to the Grand Côte de Nuits (Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle-Musigny, Nuits Saint Georges...), spread over 11 vintages (from 2009 to 2018). Obviously, the quantities are minimal, but we still have enough to make a few Pinot Noir and Chardonnay lovers happy.
