Domaine de la Cras - Marc Soyard

Domaine de la Cras rehabilitates a great lost terroir

In just a few years, Marc Soyard has gone from being a discreet young winemaker from the north of the Côte de Nuits to a sure thing that all well-informed wine lovers are snapping up. It has to be said that Marc is an excellent winemaker capable of transcending terroirs with rare talent.

Trained by Jean-Yves Bizot in Vosne-Romanée, where he learned rigor, how to read terroirs and the art of lacy winemaking, it was in 2014 that Marc Soyard set out on his own, taking over Domaine de la Cras. It was in Plombières-lès-Dijon, to the west of Burgundy's capital, that the young winemaker began to work his soils and move his 8 hectares, already organic, towards biodynamic viticulture. He is the sole representative of the once prestigious but now little-known Coteaux de Dijon terroir.

Marc respects the terroir, his grapes and produces his wines in the most natural way: manual work in the vineyard and cellar, indigenous yeasts, sulfur-free vinification, no filtration, no fining, no junk, just grape juice, well accompanied, well matured and always presenting its best profile.

For certain cuvées, Marc has decided to extend the ageing period (15 to 18 months) and wait patiently for his wines to recover before releasing them. For this reason, this week we present both 2022 and 2023 from the two Equilibriste cuvées. For 2022, we are fortunate to have received the 3 great pinot noir cuvées produced in very small quantities: the incredible Hermaïon (which in Greek means "happy find put in your path by Hermes"), the superb Montrecul and the (very) confidential Hautes Côtes de Nuits. These are 3 great wines, the likes of which Burgundy rarely produces.

In view of the growing demand for our estate wines and the small volumes available, we are obliged to limit quantities (maximum 6 bottles per customer). We remind you of the rule: any multiple order will be automatically cancelled, so that as many people as possible can benefit.
