Arlaud Cyprien

The art of patience, with added talent

It was in 2012 that Cyprien Arlaud decided to launch his trading activity in addition to his work on the estate's plots. It is his "passion for Burgundy climates, exceptional in their diversity" that led him to develop new wines, he likes to explain.

"I grow the vines for the majority of these appellations so that I can control their quality perfectly. Then, harvesting, vinification and ageing are carried out with the same exacting standards as at the estate," he explains.

Indeed, for most of the wines, the domaine's team carries out all the tasks in the vineyard, from pruning to harvesting. As with the estate's cuvées, biodynamic principles are applied. The various plots are in the process of obtaining organic certification. Cyprien and his team then apply the same rigorous approach to vinification and ageing.

Maturing at Cyprien Arlaud is precise and respectful: 14 to 18 months in French oak barrels, 15 to 25% of which are new, depending on the cuvée. No filtration or fining, bottling by gravity, following the lunar cycles. Oxygenation is slow and controlled, favoring mellow tannins and great finesse. Sulfur is used sparingly, only when necessary. Wood remains discreet, always at the service of balance, for elegant, vibrant wines capable of ageing gracefully.

As you can see, this is an haute-couture négoce, and the resulting wines really seduced us. They are delicate, intense and perfectly reflect the different terroirs from which they come. These are truly elegant wines that shine with energy and precision. Once again, Cyprien Arlaud does not disappoint, confirming his incredible talent.

Vintage 2022

Cyprien Arlaud's 2022 vintage stands out for its remarkable balance between generous fruit and natural freshness. The season, sunny but not excessively so, produced perfectly ripe grapes with thick skins and concentrated juices. On tasting, the wines present dazzling aromas of black cherry, fresh raspberry and violet, supported by a finely spiced, mineral framework. The palate is full and velvety, with silky tannins and good tension. Accessible young, this vintage also offers promising ageing potential, with balances worthy of the greatest recent years.

We present 10 cuvées in 2022. They offer a complete panorama of Burgundy terroirs, combining elegance and freshness. Here are 5 that particularly seduced us:

  • Bourgogne Rouge "Oka" 2022: a greedy, fruity wine, ideal for drinking young, with notes of cherry and red berries.
  • Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits 2022: fresher and more mineral, with good tension and subtle aromas of red fruits and spices.
  • Morey-Saint-Denis Clos Solon 2022: rich and structured, it combines power and finesse, marked by silky tannins and good depth.
  • Vosne-Romanée "Aux Réas" 2022: elegant and refined, this wine stands out for its floral aromas and velvety texture, with superb balance.
  • Nuits-Saint-Georges 2022: expressive and full-bodied, revealing intense fruit supported by fine minerality and well-integrated tannins.
